Eurofighter Typhoon twin seater[Reset]
Hello all,
A new project on my bench, i have decided to redo a Eurofighter i built 15 years ago.
Maybe will be a British or German Typhoon as i don't have any decals and don't know yet which one to do but thinking of a Luftwaffe with their appealing blue tint.
Removed colour by spraying an oven cleaner and sealing the kit and its parts in a plastic bag, let it over night and scrubbed with an old toothbrush; had to repeat 3 times as the model has been brushpainted with several layers of enamel paints without thinner!
I then started sanding with various grits from 400 to 2000 of wet sandpapers in order to entirely decolour and smooth surfaces, still some sanding has to be done and cleaning engraved detail with a scriber and needle.
The cockpit parts, no detail just decals.
I added side panels and screens from thin styrene sheet and using a photo of the Eduard PE interior, i managed to get the overall lay out idea.
Evergreen plastic has been also glued at the cockpit tub due to some gaps, spent a lot of time gluing, sanding and dry-fitting.
Glued instrument panels in place and made throttle sticks, will try to add some switches as well.
Here's the exhaust, the kit provides only closed nozzles and thought of making an attempt scratching a pair of open nozzles.
Sliced a couple of rings from a 1/72nd F-16 exhaust which seemed to fit on the kit parts, hopefully it will be the base for adding styrene sheet strips.
That's all for now!
Kind regards.

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon twin seater[Reset]
Thank you TURTLE and Yan!
Small progress on the exhaust nozzles, i scored some lines on evergreen strips and then glued them at the "rings", and soon will start building the inside with more styrene plastic.
Added some detail inside the kit part as well, with styrene sheet on which glued heated and stretched sprue.

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon twin seater[Reset]
Yan!
Made the interior nozzles, strips of thin evergreen sheet. 24 pieces per exhaust.
Once the glue dried, trimmed the top.
And an overall view with the kit's parts, still have to make the feathers.
Any comments and suggestions are welcome.
Thanks for watching!

Hello Panos,
You began with a nice stripping, and the following stages of rebuilding are very interesting.
good continuation with this kit.

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon twin seater[Reset]
It is the Italeri ref. no 862
https://www.scalemates.com/kits/149253-italeri-862-ef-2000-typhoon
The Revell kit is far better, more detailed and lots of weapons (meteor, iris-t, storm shadow e.t.c.)
http://www.ipmsdeutschland.de/FirstLook/Revell/Rev_EF_Typhoon_DS_48/Rev_Typhoon_DS_48.html
Thank you all!

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon twin seater[Reset]
Bonsoir a tout.
After a long time, some progress on the Typhoon.
Finished the exhausts as i eventually made the external feathers, i used styrene sheet which i first shaped into a cylindric form by wrapping it firmly around a marker and put it in hot water.
I then cut it to several pieces, sanded to shaped and glued.
Added a bit more detail on the other part
and an overall dry-fit
Started modifying the ejection seats as well, styrene and wire to make them look like Martin Baker Mk16a, still to make cushion covers and belts.
That's all for now. Thank you for your time!
Kind regards

Wonderfull scratch.
I hope you are going to use some parts of the kit before finishing it.

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon twin seater[Reset]
Hi ,
I must say I'm very impressed by the work you're doing on this kit. I love to see this kind of modelling, starting from an old built kit, putting it apart and rebuilding it with major scratched enhancements, making it a top notch model.
The work on the nozzles is amazing, can't wait to see it completed.
Cheers
jean-Charles

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon twin seater[Reset]
Thank you all for your kind words!
Trying to add some detail where ever possible, despite the fact that the kit is old and a reset. Since i started working with styrene plastic, i really got into it and now i use it very often for small upgrades.
All needed is good reference and patience.
And sometimes a second effort, i had to do again the exhaust feathers as some parts were not aligned and sanded with a DIY flexible sanding tool.
A bit of armament, the kit comes with 4 AIM-120 and 2 AIM-9.
Lost some fins of the sidewinders and will decide later what to do but first made a modification to the AMRAAMs.
Styrene sheet on the missiles body to turn them to BVRAAM Meteor missiles, some further gluing and sanding must be done. They are going to be mounted on fuselage slots rather than pylons.
Thanks for watching.
Kind regards
