Airfix 1/72 Mirage 2000C
I'm not used to building 1/72 scale kits but started this airfix mirage for a nephew of mine, so it's also a chance to test the camouflage colors. Will make the greek EGM with the decals provided by the kit, skipping any modifications needed for a proper depiction of the version (such as the arresting hook, some antennas on the vertical stabiliser)
Quick build, after one week finished assembly and sanding.
Basic colors brush painted with humbrol enamels.
Grey: Light ghost grey 127 + about 20% white
Blue: Intermediate blue 144 + 50% light ghost grey 127 + few drops of white + few drops of mediterranean blue 48
Still have to paint other details before applying a gloss coat for the decals.

Hi PanosGR,
You've done a very good job on this Mirage!... ...
In my opinion, colors seems to be near from the real one's!
He will have a superb desk top model...
Best regards,
Henri.
P.S. : sorry for my very bad writing english!... ...

Re: Airfix 1/72 Mirage 2000C
Thank you Henri and Dreamcatcher!
Finished painting, ready for another varnish coat. I already applied one coat before painting details so as to protect basic colors.
The painted part of the nose should be smaller, i used humbrol 126.
You can see some of the external details on this EGM.

Re: Airfix 1/72 Mirage 2000C
Thank you pifoux!
I call it finished after almost a month.
Had an accident with a couple decals.
The insignias are light blue and from what i have read, they have been kept during their first years of operation in HAF before the color changed to a darker blue. Same light shade is used nowadays by the upgrated and new delivered -5's.
Applied a wash to the engraved lines (most of them are raised) and tried to do some additional weathering with oil colors, even though the specific aircraft crashed after four years in service with the 331 sq.
I hope you like it! Thanks for your time

Re: Airfix 1/72 Mirage 2000C
I've placed the kit on a base i made, out of air-hardening clay that i put inside of the upper part of a plastic cup which used as a mold and gave that form, while having fingers constantly moisturised.
When it dried, i sanded it with a waterproof sandpaper and primed it with a spray can before painting it with black enamel. I finally, processed the badge and text to a word document and printed it to photo printing paper.
It is supported on a piece of sprue i slightly bended. I heated the one end and sticked it immediately to 2mm hole i drilled on hard surface and came out a pin that fitted to a same size hole to the underside of the model. The other end, i just sticked it to the clay before it dries.
Kind regards!
