Re: Mirage 2000 D (plus a -5DDA)
Thanks a lot FredOscop!
So, magic missile rails almost done, still have to finish a couple of things.
Started adding detail on all 4 seats, decided to rework those from the N.
Cushion covers from tin alluminium foil and seatbelts from masking tape, not finished yet.
Also worked on the exhaust, no detail in the inside so i glued pieces of thin styrene sheet.
That's all for now.
Kind regards!

Great job, you could have thinned the exhaust a little I think.

Yes, maybe it needed a bit sanding but it's too late now though and don't want to risk it any further.

Re: Mirage 2000 D (plus a -5DDA)
A little bit more progress on the D, finished most of the armament.
Magic missiles and rails
As-30l
GBU-12 with the AUF-2 dual bomb rack, i know the configuration is too much but i can't help it!
The kit provides two atlis targeting pods but i want a PDL-CT pod, so started some modification.
I used styrene sheet to close the upper slot and formed a new one on the underside while the camera is a 72nd scale wheel and still have to do a couple of things.
Thanks for your time!

Thank you all for the comments!
Here are the insignias from 3 different kits, Kinetic are very disappointing and i believe the ones from Italeri are much better as the whole sheet is very nicely designed from Cartograf.

Re: Mirage 2000 D (plus a -5DDA)
Hi all,
after a long time, there's been some progress with the Kinetic kit.
The N is postponed for now, due to some mistakes that are difficult for me to manage with and would be too visible and ugly for the beautiful desert camo.
So, it will be a Qatari -5DDA quick built instead. Finished assembly and any other work necessary and possible.
In the meanwhile, started again with the D by completing the PDL-CT pod, ready to be painted.
I replaced the camera with a thicker piece from sprue, and added some other details like the air scoop from a heated and stretched cotton swab.
That's all for now. Thank you for your time!

Great work for a very nice plane
All theses changes (pods and tanks as example) on your model make it even more realistic.

Re: Mirage 2000 D (plus a -5DDA)
Thank you all for your kind words!
The pod is finished. Painted with Humbrol 116 and then matt varnish.
The "N" may have been postponed but i have kept some finished or in progress pieces that i'm going to use on a new kit, among which is the LBF2 container. I had an accident with that part so decided to make another one from scratch.
Styrene sheet 1mm thick and some first sanding to achieve the basic shape.
Then filling with milliput standard and again sanding, and some scribing and drilling for detailing.
Still have to make the release mechanisms that look like clamps.
And primer for an overall check.
Thanks for your time!

Re: Mirage 2000 D (plus a -5DDA)
Hello all,
thank you for your comments and Happy New Year to everyone!
I finished the camouflage on the -5DDA using humbrol 147 and 127, smaller areas still to be painted.
I then attempted to simulate the transparent part on the vertical fin (i think it's called strobe light) with some wood glue which is going to turn clear when it dries; the reason i did this is because i am keeping the clear part and a spare fin for a future use on a Heller kit to make an E version. Also, that's why i have glued the part intended for B/C versions.
Thanks for your time!

Re: Mirage 2000 D (plus a -5DDA)
Good afternoon everyone,
some progress on the Qatari Mirage.
I have painted the remaining parts and details, radome Humbrol 140 and exhaust 56.
As you can see, the canopy is also painted due to some transparency issues and the fact that i haven't glued the cockpit tub because had an accident with one of the instrument panels and the in-progress seats are intended for use on a new kit for the desert N version.
Applied a floor polish and then decals, stencils from Kinetic some of which seem out of scale and the rest from Italeri. Sealed everything before doing a wash with a paynes grey oil colour, in some spots not much successful maybe cause of the brush painting or not enough drying time, even though i let it for 24 hrs. I have already repeated the process in some panel lines and wait longer to clean.
I am also proceeding work on the Rafaut LBF2 for the N, even though there is no kit!
Made the release mechanisms out of styrene sheet strips which i placed around a metal rod with the help of some tape and then from a safe distance and using a lighter, heated them in order to get the form as on picture. Cut them in a way to get a "U" shape, glued them on an other evergreen strip and filled with a bit of sprue plastic melted in Humbrol liquid poly.
That's all for now. kind regards.

Re: Mirage 2000 D (plus a -5DDA)
Didier NISI!
The LBF2 container is finished, there is no pylon yet but i'm intended to use the part from another Italeri double seater which is going to be the desert N.
And eventually, the Kinetic kit is done after 3 years on my bench!
I have decided to make the loads as well, 2 wing fuel tanks and 4 matra mica - 2 EM and 2 IR.
And here it is, many mistakes and not all parts glued but overall think it's ok. Had an accident while cleaning the wash that's why some decals are missing or destroyed.
Hope you like it!
Kind regards

Thank you vroux65!
A bit more progress, moved on with the seats.
I modified the parts supposed to be the cushions by sanding the back to create a curve and made the cushions on top of the survival kit out of aluminium tin foil covered with blue 3M tape.
Painted and glued them on the seats along with some belts before proceeding to further detailing.
Then, made again the cushion covers and more belts, also from aluminium tin foil and masking tape. The real thing seems to be comfusing so this is my attempt.
And a fit on the seat so as to give the foil the necessary shape/bends and trim the tapes to length before painting them seperately.
That's all for now. Kind regards!

Thank you!
I glued single and longer strips of tape for the seatbelts and painted cushion covers seperately before gluing them onto the seats.
Adjusted belts onto the seats and applied an acrylic matt varnish. The safety pin is a piece from a round plastic rod, maybe will add some buckles if i manage to.
And the process is done X4 as i also made the seats i didn't use on the Kinetic kit
Kind regards!
